Language Arts

The elementary  language arts curriculum at MCA starts with a solid phonics foundation in kindergarten and builds into a comprehensive literacy program encompassing grammar, literature, spelling, and writing. In the upper grades, students participate in fiction and non-fiction book studies across genres, as they develop a love of reading. Students in first through sixth grades test their comprehension and increase their reading motivation by their participation in our Accelerated Reader program.

Sciences

The teaching of elementary science at MCA includes Biblical integration, experimenting, and textbook studies along with a variety of hands-on activities. Students develop a deeper respect and appreciation for God’s creation as they learn to be good stewards of all that God has created. (Genesis 1:28-30)

Bible

In addition to a weekly elementary chapel (grades K5-5), students receive daily Bible lessons.  Weekly Bible verse memorization helps students hide God’s Word in their hearts.

Mathematics

The elementary mathematics curriculum engages student interest using age-appropriate themes with clear explanations. New math concepts are introduced with student manipulatives to promote interactive learning. The BJU Press math curriculum builds on the basic concepts taught with frequent review. As the students learn, they recognize how math has real-life applications. The goal of the MCA elementary math program is to help our students become critical thinkers and lifelong problem solvers.

History

The elementary history curriculum of MCA is designed to promote knowledge of American History, World History, and Geography. Students examine diverse societies and times to develop an understanding of the factors that divide nations and common qualities that connect them. Students are taught about the providential hand of God throughout history (Psalms 75:7; Proverbs 21:1). Students are taught to critically examine and analyze history as well as learn to detect similarities between current and ancient civilizations.
